Texas Parent Taught Drivers Education Package
If you plan on taking one of the Texas parent taught drivers ed classes, you will be required to apply for Texas parent taught drivers education package first. The package will contain all of the required study materials, application forms and the drivers ed course provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
How to Apply
If you would like to apply for Texas parent taught drivers education package, you will need to download the “Request For A Parent Taught Drivers Education Package”, also known as DL-92. Once you complete the application, you need to mail it along with a non-refundable check or a money order for $20 to the following address:

Please note that you are mailing the application to the DPS and not one of the private drivers ed course providers, so if you will need to check upon the status of your application, you need to contact the Texas DPS directly.
How Long Does It Take
Usually it takes around 3 weeks for you to receive the parent taught drivers education package. If you do not receive the package in 3-4 weeks, please contact the DPS to check upon its status.
What’s Inside
The DPS parent taught drivers education package has pretty much everything you need to get a Texas learners permit and eventually your Texas drivers license through the parent taught drivers ed course. The package contains both the forms you require and the drivers ed class provided by the DPS. Although you may choose to take the drivers ed class through one of the private drivers ed providers, you should know that you do not have to do it, you may just use the course which is contained in the package.
