Why Should I Take North Carolina Practice Permit Test?

The first reason why someone would take a practice permit test for NC is because the practice permit test helps you familiarize yourself with the terminology used on the real DOT test. The DOT only wants those who know the traffic rules inside out to be on the road and sometimes phrases the NC drivers license test questions in the way that may confuse you. Practice permit tests will help you learn this terminology and wording used at the DOT.

Another reason for you to take the a permit practice test for NC is the fact that practice tests help you evaluate your level of preparation before you go in for the actual North Carolina permit test. You might have completed a North Carolina drivers education course, read a guide to North Carolina drivers license and think you know all the rules and regulations, however, there is no way of knowing that you are right unless you actually test yourself. Doing well on the NC DMV practice test will also strike some confidence into you and reduce the amount of stress you will experience at the office.

Considering what's stated above and taking into account that practice tests are free, the question of why should you take North Carolina practice permit tests before you go in for the real thing turns into why shouldn't you take them?

How Close Is The Practice Permit Test NC to The Permit Test at The DOT?

The NC practice permit test that is offered here are very close to the permit test offered at the DOT, however, it is not identical. The good news is that this practice test does not need to be identical to the questions you get on your real NC permit test. The NC drivers permit practice test covers the same topics, which means that when you go in to be tested for the North Carolina learners permit, you will be prepared no matter what questions you get on the test.

Hi there, Tyler! I assume you are asking about the real permit test in New Jersey, not this sample exam? The real permit test has 25 questions and the passing score is 80%, this means you cannot miss more than 20 questions, otherwise they fail you. NC permit test questions cover road rules and traffic signs, plus there are a few questions on alcohol laws. Good luck at the DMV and let us know how you liked this NC permit practice test!

what do u need to pass and how many questions can u miss

what do you have to make to pass and how many questions can u miss

Hi buddy! No, it is highly unlikely that they will ask you the same questions you got on your first permit test. You see, the DMV uses a large set of questions and they randomly choose a bunch of questions of the test when you come in. You may see one or two questions that will be the same, but most of them will be different, just like on this NC practice permit test. Good luck at the DMV, let us know how you did!

i am going back to the dmv this friday and i want to know if they are going to ask the same questions that i took on my 1st test

You are very welcome, Tiauna! Please twit about this practice test or share it through facebook to help others find it! Thank you!

This is like the real test. I really do like this. Thank you for posting this. The wording is just like the wording on the real permit test!! Once again thank you!!

So you should, it's a great score and I hope you will do just as well on your real permit test! Please share this NC practice permit test through twitter or facebook to help other find it! Thanks!

i got a 90... i feel great..!

Hi Saphira. Yes, 85 is a pass for this NC permit practice test, but I would keep on working on it before taking the real NC DMV permit test, since it's always a little harder doing it at the office. Just ready the book a little longer, take more practice tests and you will be fine.

Hi Abby! Don't be so negative, some people fail the test more than three times, it's not the end of the world. I think you just need to study a little more before you take the permit test again. Tell me, have you read the manual yet? If you haven't, now is the time to do so. Don't just read it like you would read fiction, make sure to take notes, write out all laws/rules that contain numbers (for example, you would write down the speed limits, the following distance, a minimum distance to a vehicle you're following that warrants using high beams headlights). While going through the book, you can keep on taking this permit practice test NC sample quiz (you can take other practice tests too, it's actually better if you take as many quizzes as you can find, just keep cross referencing the answers in those quizzes with the book, some quizzes contain errors). Keep doing this for a week or two and I am sure you will pass your North Carolina permit test next time you go to the office. Once again, don't get discouraged, just study and you will be fine. Good luck!

Made an 85%. is that a pass???

I have failed the permit test twice so far. Is all hope lost?

You are welcome, Peter. Yes, 50000 miles of practice should be more than enough to be able to drive comfortably, but keep on studying. I would also recommend that you take at least one professional driving lesson before you take the North Carolina driving test. I understand that you know how to drive and you don't need anyone to teach you that, but then the instructor will be able to show you exactly what will be on the drivers test so you can practice that. People who have a lot of driving experience tend to get a bit sloppy after a while and acquire some bad driving habits, while the driving examiner will be looking to see you at your best. Anyway, good luck at the DMV and please share this practice test through twitter, facebook or google, this will really help everyone else to find it easier. Thank you!

yesterday 80% today 85% at 1st. time, in some questions I found more than one good "safe" answers, well "I dont know" my answer was bad. And my english is not very good for this, some word I saw first time. My practice in driving car in europe after 50000 miles is very good, I think or not? Thanks for tests.

Hey Peter, welcome to North Carolina! I guess it just shows that driving rules are quite universal, except for some minor differences, such as legal blood alcohol levels, seat belt laws, etc. A stop sign is a stop sign, no matter where you are, in Europe or the States.

i am from europe my result 80%.

Hello there. I would not say that your teacher was telling you anything wrong, it is actually a very reasonable thing to stop at a place that will allow you to see cross traffic clearly. However, the current traffic law actually mandates that you do not cross the limit line (also called "stop line" in some places). If there is no limit line, you can just draw a virtual limit line by using the back of the crosswalk, usually this place coincides with where the stop sign is installed. Hope this helps to understand the answers to this MA practice permit test a little better. Cheers!

My drivers ed teacher always told us that when you when you come to a corner with a stop sign to stop far enough for you to see traffic. But on here it says to stop in back of the crosswalk or limit line, so had our teacher been telling us the wrong stuff?

Hey there, Haley. Thank you for the question. You are correct, the speed limit for all business areas is 35 and we will make sure to correct it with the next update of this permit practice test NC quiz. Thank you for being so attentive!

I thought the speed limit for business area's is 35, but on here it said it was 25.. was my driving instructor wrong when he told me that?

You are welcome Ryan, this is why we created this permit practice test NC sample quiz, to help you study. Good luck on the real permit test!

Hey Robert. The questions on the permit test will be similar to the ones on this practice test, the main difference is that this test does not contain any questions on road signs yet, while the real test will have those questions. We are working on developing a whole new set of practice tests that will cover the NC road signs as well, hopefully they'll be out soon.

80 is not bad, not bad at all and I am sure if you study a bit more, you will be able to get a higher score. Did you read the handbook before you started taking this nc practice permit test? The book is a wealth of information when it comes to taking the permit test, so make sure not to miss out on it.

thanks for that i hope i do as well in the real thing as i did here
