Once you take a DMV practice test and the exam is graded, you can identify the questions you have missed and revisit these topics.

One of the biggest mistakes made by young North Carolina DMV permit applicants is that they try to learn the driving rules just by taking North Carolina practice tests, without reading any books or going through additional educational programs. In most cases, such students fail as practice tests were never meant to be a stand-alone study resource, it's more of a study aid and should be used only when you already have sound knowledge of the rules.

Hi Abigail! Yes, if you keep taking this NC practice permit test until you get a perfect score every time you take it, there is a great chance that you will pass the real permit test too. Having said that, I still think that you should go over the drivers manual at least once, if you have not done so yet, since it is a great source of driving-related info and the permit test is based on that book. I know it may seem boring, try to break it up into chapters and read it over the course of the next couple of weeks or so, but read it nonetheless. Good luck on your permit exam and please share these sample questions through twitter and facebook! Thanks!

If I take these tests until I make a perfect score, do you think I will be able to pass the real thing?

Hi there, Jalen! I really think you need to study the book a bit more and take this NC practice permit test a few more times until your score is around 90% before you visit the DMV and take the real exam. It is always best to keep a "safety cushion", since you are cutting it very close with this 80% score.

I have taken this practice test about 5 times and my average is 80% does anyone think i will pass the real test?

Hey there, Divs. You know, there is no point in skipping questions on your NC permit test if you don't know the answer. If there are four answers, there is always a 25% chance that you will pick the right one at random, don't miss that chance and ALWAYS mark an answer. How did you like this NC DMV practice test, how did you score?

Can I skip the questions without failing the test?

Hey Steve, thanks for the question! The real permit test at the DMV will have 25 questions and you need to answer at least 20 of them correctly, so the passing score is 80%. This NC DMV practice test has only 20 questions, however you may take it as many times as you wish, since it is completely free, so you can cover more than 25 questions. Good luck on your DMV permit test!

Taking my test in couple of days, how many questions are there going to be there?
