Why Should I Take The Indiana Practice Permit Test?

The first reason why someone would take the practice permit test Indiana sample quiz is because the practice permit test helps you familiarize yourself with the terminology used on the real Indiana BMV test. The BMV only wants those who know the traffic rules inside out to be on the road and sometimes phrases permit test questions in the way that may confuse you. Practice permit tests will help you learn this terminology and wording used at the BMV.

Another reason for you to take the permit practice test for Indiana is the fact that practice tests help you evaluate your level of preparation before you go in for the actual Indiana permit test. You might have completed an Indiana drivers education course, read a guide to Indiana drivers license and think you know all the rules and regulations, however, there is no way of knowing that you are right unless you actually test yourself. Doing well on the Indiana BMV practice test will also strike some confidence into you and reduce the amount of stress you will experience at the office.

Considering what's stated above and taking into account that practice tests are free, the question of why should you take the Indiana learners permit practice test before you go in for the real thing turns into why shouldn't you take it?

How Close Is The Indiana Practice Permit Test to The Permit Test at The BMV?

The Indiana permit practice tests that is offered here is very close to the permit test offered at the BMV, however it is not identical. You may wonder why and we have to agree that this is a reasonable question. In our opinion, the practice test does not have to be identical to the real permit test as it does more bad than good. When students know that the practice test is exactly the same as the real exam, they try to memorize the answers to the sample test questions instead of learning traffic rules and road signs and if the DMV changes permit test questions, all these students fail the exam. The Indiana practice drivers test covers the same topics, which means that when you go in to be tested for the Indiana learners permit, you will be prepared no matter what questions you get on the test.

Hello Orion! You are correct about the headlights, it should be 500 feet to the vehicle traveling in your direction and I will go ahead and correct it asap. Do you happen to have a link to any official source to confirm the number of questions on the current permit test? I remember that it used to be 34 questions for rules and 16 questions for signs and it used to be in the handbook, but I cannot seem to find anything there now.

There's actually 40 questions on the road rules. It wouldn't make since to miss 8 on one that was 34 question because that's a 76%. You have to get an 80% (32/40) Also, one of the questions asked "WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT USING HIGH BEAMS, DIM YOUR LIGHTS WHEN YOU GET WITHIN _______ FEET OF A VEHICLE TRAVELLING IN YOUR DIRECTION." The correct answer according to the test is 300, when it should be 500.. That is all.

Not bad, 70 is definitely not bad for this Indiana practice permit test, but I think you should keep on reading the handbook and taking this practice permit test until your score is closer to 90%. There is no harm in doing some extra hours of learning now, may save you a trip or two to the BMV office. We just hate seeing people waste hours at the BMV instead of studying 10-15 minutes a day before taking the permit exam.

i got a 70% lol

Hi there! The real Indiana permit test is structured in a strange way and it has more than 20 questions on it. It goes like this: Part 1. 34 questions on road rules, you can only miss 8 questions Part 2. 16 questions on road signs, you can only miss 2. Of course, you have to pass both parts of the permit test in order to get your learners permit and, eventually, your drivers license.

How many questions are on the actual test? 20?

Hi there, Jarious! No, these exact questions will not be on your Indiana permit test, however you are bound to encounter a bunch of questions that will be very similar. The main purpose of taking this Indiana learners permit practice test is to allow you to learn the rules of the road, not simply memorize couple of answers to test questions, trust me, that does not work. If you are doing well on this practice test, it means that you know the rules and you should do just fine when you show up at the BMV. Good luck!

Are these questions on the real test

Not bad, Diddy, but keep on studying. 75 shows that you are doing all right, but you need to do better if you want to pass the real test. I suggest that you read the handbook a bit more before taking another Indiana practice test. Good luck!

Got 75%, wow!

Hello Kristi and thank you for sharing with us. As we explained, this Indiana learners permit practice test was not meant to be identical to the real test at the BMV. We made the test so people could test their knowledge of driving rules, to get a general idea of where they are right now. We do receive quite a bit of feedback from people who passed the permit test with a good score and they credit this practice test with that result. If you have permit test questions that you would like to see added to the practice exam, please feel free to post them here and we shall add them to the test. Thank you!

Almost none of these questions apply to Indiana's current test. I took the test this morning. I have an eidetic memory.

Hey buddy and thank you for the question, you are raising a very important issue here. Since this Indiana practice permit test was intended to help people prepare for the real permit test at the BMV, the wording the you are commenting on was actually used intentionally. The BMV phrases the real permit test questions in the same way and most of their questions won't have an obvious answer, they are trying to make sure that you really know what you are talking about and that you will be able to apply your knowledge of driving rules in any on road situation. This is why quite a few people who just read the book fail the real permit test at the BMV, they get tripped by the wording on the test. To address your concerns: we are working on additional practice test questions right now and will post them onto separate pages, those practice tests will be more basic and will use simple and easy-to-understand wording, so novice drivers can start with those sample questions and then work their way up to something more complex. Once again, thanks for the great question, we love getting feedback from you guys, it is much easier to develop something useful when we actually hear your thoughts.

Ok I swear a few of these questions have some of the most trollish answers. A lot of them have several clearly correct answers but the test insist that one is the most 100% definite and the others are completely false, even when they are not. These type of questions might give novice drivers the wrong idea when it comes to facts when operating a motor vehicle, they most certainly should be corrected. I think the creators of these practice test should consider rephrasing a few questions and get rid of all the cryptic junk and start being a tad bit more specific with certain situations in the test because some of the opened questions could be filled with several of the optional answers given, and could technically be considered correct due to the way the question is constructed. Not sure if they're trying to go for difficult questions/answers but whatever they're going for seriously needs revamping.

Hey there. 705 is good if you are taking this Indiana practice permit test for the first time, but don't stop there, you still have to study and get a better score before you go in to take your real Indiana permit test. Make sure to read the book, it always helps, you can also make flashcards and post them all over your room, this way the info will be in front of your eyes all the time and it will be easier for you to memorize these traffic rules.

I got a 70% :)

Hey there. Don't worry, many people fail the permit test the first time they take it. Just keep reading the drivers handbook and taking the indiana practice test and you will be just fine.
