California Driver License FAQs

If you are over 18 years old and would like to apply for a California driver license, you are not required to take any driver education or driver training courses. You may schedule your appointment with the DMV, take your permit test and receive your learner permit. There is no minimum holding period for you so you can take a driving test and receive your driver license on the next day after receiving your permit. However, it is strongly advised that you take your time and practice driving before going for your driving test to achieve the driver's license.
