Judging The Effectiveness of Indiana Drivers Education Classes

A recent report presented by the Indiana BMV leads to the conclusion that teenagers who take an Indiana drivers education class are much more likely to be involved in a traffic accident than those who don't. Does this mean that the Indiana drivers ed is not effective and teens would be better off not taking the class or is there something else we miss? Is driver's ed the only thing to blame or should the whole Indiana graduated drivers license system be revised?

Problems with TDTSEA Texas Parent Taught Drivers Ed Course 106 Delivery

According to the statement provided on the TDTSEA main page, students who ordered their Texas parent taught drivers education course #106 after August 5, 2010, will experience a delay in package delivery. The delay is caused by an overload of the printing shop that was producing the course materials for TDTSEA. Parent taught course materials will not be sent out until at least September 1st. If you are in the rush to start your Texas drivers education course, you may want to choose an online course or order a book package from a different provider.

New Iowa Graduated Drivers License Rules, Iowa Drivers License and Learners Permit Restrictions

Couple of new laws that affect all Iowa drivers went into effect recently. The new laws add new drivers license and learners permit restrictions and are a welcome update the the Iowa graduated driver's license program. The laws should reduce the number of traffic accident that result due to distracted driving and are part of the larger move for traffic safety.

Possible Additions to Pennsylvania Graduated License Rules and Permit Restrictions

Although the state is moving in the right direction with its graduated drivers license system, there are still many improvements that could be made easily and could result in saving a large number of teenage drivers. Such improvements could include introducing a limit to the number of passengers that can be present in the vehicle operated by a teenage driver, restricting the usage of cell phones while driving and providing the Highway Patrol with the ability to control and enforce the seat belt restrictions.

Indiana Graduated Drivers License Changes, 01 July, 2010

Indiana is following many other states in the effort to reduce the number of casualties among teen drivers by introducing new licensing laws and restrictions that will have to be observed by Indiana drivers license and learners permit applicants. These new licensing laws raise the bar for traffic safety and will definitely play a major role in reducing the number of teenage drivers injured in traffic accidents.

Concerns Over Teen License Plate Decals in New Jersey

According to the new law that goes into effect on July 01, 2010, all New Jersey drivers who are under 21 years of age must display red decals on the vehicle's license plates. The measure should make it easier for highway patrol and other drivers to identify teenage drivers and thus increase on road safety. Parents have concerns that red decals will also make it easier for stalkers to identify teenage drivers and thus put them in extra danger.

Congress Considers Uniform Graduated Drivers License Laws for all States

In May, US senators discussed some changes to the current licensing procedure for teenage drivers. One of the main points was raising the unrestricted driving age to 18. At the moment, the minimum unrestricted license age varies between states and in some places it is as low as 16. US senators were looking into the possibility of introducing uniform graduated drivers license laws for the whole country.

New York Drivers Fare The Worst on The Drivers Test

A national survey conducted by GMAC Insurance revealed that most of the New York drivers would not be able to pass the drivers permit test should they be forced to do so now. The average score for New Yorkers was 70%, with a current passing score being at least 80%.

Virginia Will Require Parents to Take Driver Ed Classes

A new law which will go into effect this September will require all Virginia parents to take a 90 minute drivers education course. The class will educate parents on the dangers of teen driving and highlight the restrictions that are posed onto the drivers who are under 18 years of age. Teens won't be granted a driver's license unless their parents present proof that they completed one of these classes.

Wisconsin To Ban Texting While Driving

Wisconsin will follow up other states in the move to make public roads safer by introducing a ban on texting behind the wheel. The law will go into effect on Dec 1, 2010 and drivers who choose to ignore the law can be slapped with a fine as high as $400.
